B/w, 8x10. From a typed caption affixed to verso: "Celebrities, stars,
religious and industry leaders, and socialites throng New York's Victoria
Theatre for Tuesday evening's black tie, red carpet world premiere of Elia
Kazan's 'Baby Doll' for the benefit of Actors' Studio. The $50-a-seat opening of
Warner Bros. picture, starring Karl Malden, Carroll 'Baby Doll' Baker and Eli
Wallach, was followed by a supper dance at the Waldorf-Astoria." The 1956
film, written and co-produced by Tennessee Williams, was nominated for four
Academy Awards. JESSICA TANDY (1909-1994) won the 1990 Academy Award for
Best Actress (Driving Miss Daisy). She and HUME CRONYN, Oscar nominated
in 1945 (The Seventh Cross), were married in 1942. Tandy died in 1994,
the year the couple received the first Tony award for lifetime achievement in
theater. Minor surface striations (not evident head on). Slight nick near her
nose (barely discernible). Fine condition.
