HUNTZ HALL and BERNARD PUNSLY
The actors sign a 5¼x4½ album leaf with pencil caricatures of them affixed.
Signatures: "Bernard Punsly" and "Huntz/Hall" in pencil, 5¼x4½ green album leaf. Original pencil caricatures of Hall and Punsly have been affixed to the page causing some rippling. HUNTZ HALL (1919-1999) as Dippy and BERNARD PUNSLY (1923-2004) as Milty costarred with many of the future Dead End Kids/East Side Kids/Bowery Boys in the 1935-1937 Broadway play, Dead End, recreating their roles in the 1937 film, Dead End, starring Humphrey Bogart. HALL appeared in a total of 81 Dead End Kids/East Side Kids/Bowery Boys features and serials, more than any other actor. He always played the same type of role, first called Pig, then Glimpy and, finally, Sach. PUNSLY left the series in the mid-'40s (he played "Ape") to join the Army, where he received medical training. Upon leaving the Army, he enrolled in the University of Georgia, graduating from the University of Georgia's Medical College. Dr. Punsly ran his own practice and was chief of staff at South Bay Hospital in Redondo Beach, California. In February 1994, the last of the original Dead End Kids, Dr. Punsly and Huntz Hall, appeared at a ceremony in which the Dead End Kids received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, placed near the southeast corner of Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
