TV producer and director Hy Averback signed this document in 1956 in order to confirm his agreement to be paid for repeat broadcasts of radio's The Jack Benny Show.
Document signed "Hy Averback" in blue ink. Also signed by a representative of J&M Productions in blue ink. 1 page, 8½x11, partial carbon copy. Oct. 25, 1956. Addressed to Mr. Hy Averback, North Hollywood, California. According to this document, J&M bought the rights to broadcast repeat recordings of the radio show The Jack Benny Show - episodes on which Averback was a performer. By signing this, Averback confirmed his agreement to be paid $125 every time his performance was broadcast on the CBS Radio Network between Oct. 28, 1956 and Oct. 27, 1957.  After writing comedy for radio and working as a Hollywood announcer, Averback (1920-1997) settled into producing and directing on TV and in movies, mainly in comedies. He earned Emmy Award nods for directing episodes of The Real McCoys(1959) and M*A*S*H(1975, 1982) and was a producer and/or director on the TV  series The Real McCoys (1957-1960), Burke's Law (1963), F Troop (1965-1966), Quark (1978), The Dukes of Hazzard (1979). He was also director of the movies Chamber of Horrors (1966), and the more representative I Love You, Alice B. Toklas (1968), Where Were You When the Lights Went Out? (1968) and Suppose They Gave a War and Nobody Came? (1970). Averback has several acting credits, including recurring roles on Meet Corliss Archer (1954) and Our Miss Brooks (1952-1956). Lightly toned and creased. Staple holes in top left corner. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
