Stage, screen and television actor Ian Wolfe (1896-1992) was a prolific character actor who played roles from Shakespeare to mad scientists to kindly butlers and shopkeepers. Brought to Hollywood to reprise his Broadway role in The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934), Wolfe would go on to appear in dozens of films, including Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Romeo and Juliet (1936), You Can't Take it With You (1938), Foreign Correspondent (1940), Random Harvest (1942), Mrs. Miniver (1942), Now, Voyager (1942), The Song of Bernadette (1943), The Scarlet Claw (1944), Love Letters (1945), A Song to Remember (1945), Johnny Belinda (1948), The Great Caruso (1951), Les Misérables (1952), Julius Caesar (1953), The Silver Chalice (1954), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), Rebel Without a Cause (1955), Witness for the Prosecution (1957), Pollyanna (1960), Diary of a Madman (1963), The Terminal Man (1974), Reds (1981) and Dick Tracy (1990, his last film). Wolfe also appeared in several made-for-TV movies and guest starred in a long list of TV series, including a recurring role as "Hutch" on the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, and several guest visits to MTM sitcoms, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show and Rhoda.
