Lupino signs a note on a4½x5½ album leaf with a newspaper photo affixed. Quillan signs on verso. Both signatures were acquired in 1934.
Autograph Note signed: "To Laura/Sincerely/Ida Lupino", and on verso "Eddie Quillan", 4½x5½ green album leaf. With a black and white newspaper photograph of Lupino affixed. Ink notes (unknown hand) date both signatures: "3-8-34 KECA Broadcasting" for Lupino; "Fights 2-3-34 for Quillan".IDA LUPINO (1918-1995), a supporting actress in the 1930s, got her first starring role opposite Humphrey Bogart in High Sierra (1941) after which, she became interested in directing. In 1949, Not Wanted was the first of eight films she would direct. Continuing to act into the 1970s, she turned her directing skills almost exclusively to television productions such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, Have Gun Will Travel, The Ghost & Mrs. Muir ,The Untouchables, The Fugitive and Bewitched. In all, she appeared in some fifty-nine films, directed eight, appeared in fifty-eight television shows and directed fifty others, earning her two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. EDDIE QUILLAN (1907-1990) made his first major feature-film appearance when he co-starred in The Godless Girl (1929). He went on to star in such films as The Sophomore (1929), Noisy Neighbors (1929), Big Money (1930) and The Tip-Off (1931). Among his more memorable credits as a supporting actor were Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Young Mr. Lincoln (1939), The Grapes of Wrath (1940) and It Ain't Hay (1943). Quillan was a boxing buff, attending many bouts, hence the ink note by his signature. Quillan remained active into the 1980s, appearing as a regular on the TV sitcom Julia (1969-1970). Faded and creased. Ink note above (unknown hand) at top edge and on verso (no show through). Lightly creased. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
