On ruled graph paper to "Dear Catherine", his secretary, Catherine Simokat, at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut. In full: "I am returning you the copy of my interview with some changes and incerts (sic). I hope you woud (sic) be kind to retype my incerts (sic), checking them as usual. Please ask Frank Dolear to do me a favour of looking it over carefully or asking some of his associates to do it. My only desire is to bring it in such state that it woud (sic) not be in any way undesirable or be disliked by United. After this woud (sic) be done please bring it into readable order and mail it back to Mr O'Connel of I.B.M. or to watever (sic) proper person it should be returned in I.B.M. autorising (sic) to publish it. Do not send it back to me, but settle details if necessary consulting Frank D. I am planning to leave tomorrow, Jan 2 to Palm Beach, where I intend to stay or remain in contact until Jan 8 with, Holiday Inn, 2770 South Ocean Blvd. Expect to return to Easton between Jan 17 and 19. Thanking you in advance for your kind help and sending you and Al my best wishes for a happy New Year in which Mrs. Sikorsky joins me. I am most sincerely". At left margin of verso, Sikorsky has written: "Jan 8, 9, 10 I expect to stay in Ponce de Leon Motel in St. Augustine". At upper margin of first page, handwritten postscript initialed: "I.S." In full: "If needed you or Frank may after alter or shorten the text of my incerts (sic), as well as any part of the main text." Russian-born Igor Ivan Sikorsky (1889-1972), a pioneer in the advancement of the helicopter and naval aircraft, constructed and flew the first multi-motored airplane in 1913.He also built the first amphibian American Clipper, which pioneered transoceanic commercial flights. In 1939, Sikorsky developed the first practical American helicopter. He is enshrined in the National Aviation Hall of Fame. Lightly creased. Chipped at lower left margin and lower edge, lower left blank corner chipped off. ½-inch tear at upper blank edge. Slightly soiled, pinhead-size stain at blank area above text on first page. Overall, fine condition.
