IGOR STRAVINSKY
His signed autograph note in red ink to his lawyer (1956), in the margin of an unsigned information copy of a typed letter from him to a Hollywood production company.
Autograph Note signed: "I mailed a copy of this document yesterday attention David Oppenheimer. I Str/March 7-56", 1 page, 8½x11. He has added "COPY" in upper left corner. Stravinsky has added a second, unsigned autograph note in pencil: "Memorandum/for Arnold Weissberger/As you see my contract/is not with NBC but with/Audio Visual Associates." The original typed letter, dated February 20, 1956, informed Audio Visual Associates of Hollywood that any contract regarding an abbreviated cartoon version of Petrushka must be consistent with the terms of Stravinsky's contract with Columbia Records. Russian-born composer IGOR STRAVINSKY (1882-1971) was perhaps the greatest classical composer of the 20th century. Stravinsky, who lived in France following WWI before coming to the U.S. in 1939, wrote operas, including Firebird (1910), Petrushka (1911) and The Rite of Spring (1913), neoclassical works and such religious-inspired pieces as Symphony of Psalms (1930). Stravinsky became a naturalized American citizen in 1949. He also collaborated on several books, including his autobiography Chronicles of My Life in 1936. Edges chipped. 2 filing holes at left edge.
