THE IN-LAWS: PETER FALK, RICHARD LIBERTINI, and ARTHUR HILLER Script signed by two of the stars and the director of the 1979 comedy Photocopied Script signed: "Richard Libertini", "Peter Falk" and "Arthur Hiller" in ink on front cover, 150p, 8½x11, separate sheets (bound with two brass fasteners). Final Draft (August 15, 1978) of the script for The In-Laws by Andrew Bergman. "For Educational/Purposes Only" stamped at lower left margin. The 1979 Warner Bros. comedy, The In-Laws, which was directed by Hiller, starred Falk as Vincent J. Ricardo and Libertini as crazed General Garcia. The film, which co-starred Alan Arkin and Nancy Dussault, was re-made in 2003 (Andrew Fleming directed). Actor PETER FALK (1927-2011) lost an eye at the age of three, resulting in the odd, squinting gaze that later became his trademark. Best known as the rumpled television detective, Columbo, the character actor has also enjoyed a successful film career spanning over 40 years. He won two Emmy Awards for his television work, and Falk received two Best Supporting Actor Academy Award nominations (Murder Inc., 1961 and Pocketful of Miracles, 1962). He published his autobiography, Just One More Thing (his trademark line from Columbo), in 2006. Canadian film director ARTHUR HILLER (1923-2016) made his debut in 1955 when he directed a few episodes of Matinee Theatre. After directing other television anthologies such as Playhouse 90 (1956-1958), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1958-1961), and Naked City (1961), he moved on to feature films. His directorial efforts include The Americanization of Emily (1964), Silver Streak (1976), The In-Laws (1979), The Babe (1992). He was nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe for directing Love Story (1970). Hiller's career behind the camera lasted over half of a century. Character actor RICHARD LIBERTINI (1933-2016) who began his career in entertainment as a comedian with Chicago's Second City Troupe, has appeared in such feature films as The Night They Raided Minsky's (1968, his debut film), Don't Drink The Water (1969), The Out-of-Towners (1970), Catch-22 (1970), Popeye (1980), Sharky's Machine (1981), Fletch (1985) and its sequel, Fletch Lives (1989), Awakenings (1990), The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990) and Nell (1994). He has also made a number of made-for-TV movies, appeared in mini-series, starred on two series (Family Man, 1988; Pacific Station, 1991), had recurring roles on such series as Soap (as The Godfather, 1977-1978) and guest starred in a long list of TV shows, from Mary Tyler Moore (1971) to The Drew Carey Show (2002). Slightly creased. Usual black marks from photocopying. Fine condition.
