Continental Cafe (1964).
Meal Ticket signed: "Ina Balin", 3½x5¼. Breakfast check from the
Continental Café of Paramount Pictures. She has itemized the bill in her own
hand. Ink stamp dated 1964 February 12. Actress Ina Balin (1937-1990) won
a Theatre World Award for her Broadway performance in A Majority of One
(1959), and that same year made her feature film debut in The Black
Orchid. In 1960 she scored a Golden Globe as Best Supporting Actress for
From the Terrace, opposite Paul Newman. She appeared with John Wayne
in The Comancheros (1961) and with Elvis Presley in Charro!
(1969). Actively involved with Vietnamese orphans, she helped evacuate an
orphanage in 1975, adopting three of its children. She played herself in the
TV movie about this event, The Children of An Lac (1980). She
was a frequent TV guest star, making multiple appearances on Run for Your
Life, Mannix, Police Story, Quincy, M. E. and Magnum
P. I. The year she signed this café tab, Balin appeared in Paramount's
The Patsy, a Jerry Lewis comedy. Staple holes at left center margin.
