INGA SWENSON
Homesick in London, she can't wait to return to "dear, smelly, nervous New York".
Autograph Letter signed: "Inga", 2 pages. London, 1967 April 14. To Charles Forsythe ("Dear Charley"), c/o Brisson Productions, Los Angeles, in full: "How lovely of you to write me. I am always so grateful for a note from home. I cannot tell you how homesick I am. But all that is soon to be relieved. We are closing the middle of May. I'm so glad, but of course sorry the show was not the success it might've been. Nice for me & I've had four months in London (whatever that means). But I can't wait to get back to dear, smelly, nervous New York. If you are there soon do give me a call. I would really like to see you. Or are you more or less permanently based in L. A. now? Love". Accompanied by the transmittal envelope, postmarked Chelsea, April 16, 1967 and addressed to Charles Forsythe, Los Angeles, California. Inga Swenson (b. 1932) is best known as caustic German cook Gretchen Kraus, adversary (and later ally) of Robert Guillaume on the sitcom Benson (1979-1986). She also played family matriarch Maude Hazard on the mini-series North and South (1985-1986). A lyric soprano, Swenson received Tony nominations for 110 in the Shade (1964) and Baker Street (1965). Charles Forsythe was a theatre director and producer. Normal mailing fold. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
