INGRID PITT
The Polish-born actress pens a short note to a fan
Autograph note signed: "To Patrick/ with love/Ingrid Pitt". 6x4 album leaf. Polish actress Ingrid Pitt (1937-2010), who survived a Nazi concentration camp and pursuit by the East German police, appeared on East European stages before moving to England. After playing minor roles in films of the late 1960s, including Doctor Zhivago, she found her niche as a star of gothic films, including The Vampire Lovers (1971) and Countess Dracula (1973). She appeared in many episodes of the popular British SF series Doctor Who, contributing a script for one. She returned to mainstream films and TV in the 1980s, playing an uncomfortably close to life role as a Jew denounced by Unity Mitford in BBC-TV's Unity. She also formed her own touring theatre company. Pitt wrote fiction and nonfiction books and articles, including an autobiography, Life's a Scream (1999). Lightly creases at its corners.
