INGRID THULIN
The actress who starred in Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries signed this index card
Autograph Note Signed "To Joe Love / Ingrid Thulin". 5x3 index card. Ingrid Thulin
(1926-2004, born in Sollefteå, Västernorrlands Iän, Sweden) was a Swedish actress with
over 60 TV and movie credits. Trained as a ballerina, she debuted in Swedish films in 1948.
Her first American film was a starring role in Foreign Intrigue (1956), opposite Robert
Mitchum. She mostly avoided American cinema after Foreign Intrigue and the 1962 remake
of Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, in which her voice was dubbed by Angela Lansbury.
Thulin's dramatic talents were truly tapped under the direction of legendary Swedish
director Ingmar Bergman. He directed her on the stage and then through several movies,
beginning with Wild Strawberries (1957) and ending with Cries and Whispers (1973), in
which she played cool but complex characters. She shared the Best Actress award at the
1958 Cannes Film Festival for her work in Bergman's Nära Livet (1958). With pencil
notations in unknown hand on verso. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
