10x8. The 1985 television movie International Airport follows the
manager of a large international airport as he tries to deal with the stress of
his job and the attitudes of his workers. Actor/producer GIL GERARD (b.
1943) is perhaps best known for playing the title role in the film and
television series, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, although he initially
turned down the part as the futurist space hero based on the comic book
character. The 1979 film was a huge commercial success, grossing over $11
million in its opening weekend, although the series was cancelled after two
seasons (1979-1981). Gerard, who began his career in stage plays in New York,
was an extra in the 1970 film Love Story and appeared on the daytime
soap, The Doctors, and in over 400 commercials before heading to
Hollywood, where he formed his own production company, Prudhomme Productions.
The company released its first film, Hooch, produced by and starring
Gerard, in 1976. Gerard then appeared on a number of televisions series,
including Little House on the Prairie, Hawaii-Five-O and
Baretta, as well as in a number of made-for-television movies (his
best known are Help Wanted: Male, For Love or Money and Hear No
Evil). He also hosted the "actuality" series, Code 3,
which followed the exploits of paramedics, firefighters and other rescue
organizations around the world, for two seasons. Gerard, who was married to
actress Connie Selleca from 1979-1987, continues to act and produce.
CLIFF POTTS (b. 1942), the American film and television actor, is well
known for his roles in more than sixty television productions including
The name of the Game, a starring role in Once an Eagle,
Big Hawaii, and Little Women. However, Potts most
successful role was that of John Wolf in Silent Running, a 1972
cult science fiction film. More recently, Potts has found roles in the films
Temptations (1998), and his role as Turner in Embrace the
Darkness (1999). Since 1999, Potts has only pursued a single role, that
of Tops in the upcoming film, Wild Hearts (2012). Fine
condition.
