Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/John Hall Boller/Thank you
for your/charming letter./Irene Bordoni/1941". B/w, 5x7. Corsican-born
American musical comedy star Irene Bordoni (1895-1953) debuted on the New York
stage in Broadway to Paris (1912). By the 1920s she was a major
Broadway star, introducing Cole Porter's "Let's Do It" in Paris
(1928-1929) and Irving Berlin's "It's a Lovely Day Tomorrow" in Louisiana
Purchase (1940-1941). She also appeared in the film versions of both of
these musicals. Bordoni's last role was that of Bloody Mary on tour in South
Pacific (1951). Toned. Corners lightly worn. Signature beaded but legible.
