Inscribed printed photograph signed in ink: "To Grace/My Best to you/Irene Daye", in blue ink. B/w, 8x10. Irene Daye (1918-1971) was an American jazz singer who performed with the Gene Krupa Orchestra. Beginning in her teens as a vocalist for Jan Murphy's big band, she also worked with Mal Hallett before meeting Krupa. Performing with Krupa's Orchestra from 1938 to 1941, she recorded 63 songs with the band, including "Drum Boogie" the biggest hit of her career. From 1944 to 1950 she performed with her future husband Charlie Spivak and his Orchestra. Spivak and Daye were married until her death in 1971. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
