Inscribed signature: "Sincere Wishes to/Dixie June Jones -/Irene
Dunne", 4¼x3¼, irregularly cut, affixed to 5½x4¼ sheet, which is also
irregularly cut. Dated: "Aug - 1946" at lower margin of mounting sheet.
In 1946, Dunne starred as Anna Owens in Anna and the King of Siam.
Cary Grant, who starred with actress Irene Dunne (1898-1990) in The Awful
Truth (1937) and My Favorite Wife (1940), called her the finest
comedienne he had ever worked with. Dunne, whose first screwball comedy was
Theodora Goes Wild (1936), received Best Actress Academy Award
nominations for that film and for Cimarron (1930-1931), The Awful
Truth (1937), Love Affair (1939) and I Remember Mama (1948).
Both sheets are lightly creased and soiled, vertical fold at the "ne" of Irene.
Rippled at upper edge of mounting sheet. Overall, fine
condition.
