IRENE DUNNE and HARRY McNAUGHTON
Signatures of the actress and British-born actor on an album leaf.
Signatures: "Irene Dunne" and, on verso, "Best Wishes/Harry McNaughton/alias/'Bottle'", 6x4½. Dunne's typed name affixed at lower margin of her side. Cary Grant, who starred with actress IRENE DUNNE (1898-1990) in The Awful Truth (1937) and My Favorite Wife (1940), called her the finest comedienne he had ever worked with. Dunne, whose first screwball comedy was Theodora Goes Wild (1936), received Best Actress Academy Award nominations for that film and for Cimarron (1930-1931), The Awful Truth (1937), Love Affair (1939) and I Remember Mama (1948). British-born actor HARRY McNAUGHTON (1896-1967) made his film debut in 1921 in Wet Gold. He would go on to appear in a number of features, through 1956 (The Vagabond King). McNaughton was best known as a panelist on It Pays to be Ignorant, which aired on radio from 1942-1951 before having a TV incarnation in 1949. He was also seen in 17 Broadway productions from 1920 (French Leave) through 1935 (Calling All Stars). Ink smudged at the "e" of Dunne and the "ttl" of Bottle. Slightly worn at edges. Lightly soiled. Three file holes at blank right margin. Overall, fine condition.
