Kershner filled out this form to calculate his 1963 dues for the Directors
Guild of America, which were based on his earnings as a producer and director.
He stated that he earned $28,937 in 1962 and estimated that he would earn
$30,000 in 1963. Kershner directed the movie Face in the Rain and
episodes of Naked City and Kraft Suspense Theatre in 1963. After
making documentaries for the U. S. Information Service, American director
Kershner, (1923-2010),got his feature film break (as many in
Hollywood have) by directing and co-writing a Roger Corman film, Stakeout on
Dope Street (1958). He spent the next five years or so behind the camera on
such TV series as The Rebel (1959-1961) and Naked City (1962-1963)
before focusing on movies. Star Wars fans probably know Kershner best
as the director of The Empire Strikes Back (1980), while James Bond fans
may recognize his name as the director of Never Say Never Again.
Kershner's directing credits include He won an Emmy for directing the TV
movie Raid on Entebbe (1977). His other directing credits include
The Hoodlum Priest (1961), A Fine Madness (1966), The Flim-Flam
Man (1967), Eyes of Laura Mars (1978) and Robocop 2 (1990).
