In full: "Your letter reached me just after I wrote Mr. Cort advising him that I could fill three added New England dates for you in the week beginning Nov. 4 but advising him that it would be impossible to tack on any engagements to this section in the latter or middle part of December. No doubt you will be hearing from him touching on this matter. Yours sincerely". American author, humorist and columnist Irvin Shrewsbury Cobb (1876-1944) wrote over 60 books, including Fields of Glory (1915), an account of his experiences covering WWI, and 300 short stories. Cobb, who began his journalistic career with the "Paducah Daily News" and the "Louisville Evening Post", moved to New York in 1904. His popular works included Old Judge Priest (1915), a collection of short stories inspired by is native Kentucky.
