IRVING BERLIN - AUTOGRAPHED INSCRIBED PHOTOGRAPH 1978 - HFSID 202283
Price: $900.00
IRVING BERLIN. Photograph inscribed
and signed: "To Craig/All good wishes/from/Irving Berlin/1978". B/w,
8x10. Irving Berlin, who was 90 when he signed this photograph, lived to the age
of 101. If the only song he ever wrote was "God Bless America", introduced by
Kate Smith in 1939, he would be an important part of American music. But Berlin
wrote more than 900 songs, 19 musicals and the scores of 18 movies. Some of his
classics include "There's No Business Like Show Business", "Always", "Easter
Parade", "Blue Skies" and "White Christmas". His musicals include Annie Get
Your Gun. In 1924, when Berlin was just 37, songwriter Jerome Kern observed
"Irving Berlin has no place in American music. He is American music." Lightly
surface creased, else fine condition.
