Sending thanks for appreciation of his radio broadcast.
TLS: "Irving Berlin", 1p, 7¼x11. No place,
1934 May 15. On his personal stationery to John Scotto, c/o French
Line, New York City. In full: "Many thanks for your nice wire. I am so
glad you enjoyed my broadcast, and it was very thoughtful and kind of you to
wire me about it. With my very best wishes." The Russian-born American
songwriter wrote over 1000 songs including "Alexander's Ragtime Band", "God
Bless America", "Easter Parade" and "White Christmas" and musicals such as
Annie Get Your Gun and Call Me Madam. He was a frequent guest on
radio shows in the 1930s and 1940s. Fine, early clear signature. Light
ink transference from folding at lower blank margin. Rust paper clip stain at
upper edge. Light, nailhead-size stain at lower right edge. Overall, fine
condition.
