Autograph note signed: "Hello Lavel love to you and wife/Lew
Leski/And Francine Larrimore is/not with me - Irving Caesar", in graphite,
6¼x3. Irving Caesar (1895-1996) wrote over 100 songs, including "Tea for
Two", "Sometimes I'm Happy," "Swanee" (with Gershwin), "Crazy Rhythm",
"Imagination" and "Animal Crackers in My Soup" and the Broadway musical No No
Nanette. He collaborated on songs and shows with George Gershwin,
Vincent Youmas, George M. Cohan and many others, and wrote several of Al
Jolson's songs. When asked which came first, the music or the lyrics, Caesar
replied, "What comes first is the contract". Lew Leski co-signs on this
document. Perforation marks on right margin. Lightly toned. Light wear on edges.
