IRVING CAESAR
Black and white photograph of an elder Irving Caesar in a suit
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/David Wood/Best wish/Irving Caesar" signed on verso, B/w 5x7. Irving Caesar (1895-1996) wrote over 100 songs, including "Tea for Two", "Sometimes I'm Happy," "Swanee" (with Gershwin), "Crazy Rhythm", "Imagination" and "Animal Crackers in My Soup" and the Broadway musical No No Nanette. He collaborated on songs and shows with George Gershwin, Vincent Youmas, George M. Cohan and many others, and wrote several of Al Jolson's songs. When asked which came first, the music or the lyrics, Caesar replied, "What comes first is the contract." Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
