Typed Letter signed: "Irving Wallace", 1 page, 7¼x10½. Los
Angeles, California, 1978 July 17. On his personal stationary addressed to
Mr. Neil Silverman, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In full; "Thank you
for your letter of January 14, 1978 which has been forwarded to me by my
publishers. Please forgive my delay in responding, but for the past several
months I have been deeply engrossed in the completion of a new book. I am
pleased that you enjoyed reading The R Document, and your critical
comments are appreciated. It was generous of you to write. My best wishes to you
- Sincerely," with an ink note written at the bottom in Wallace's hand
saying "Your [Illegible] comment has been passed on to Judge
Maynard". Accompanied by the transmittal envelope addressed to Mr.
Neil Silverman, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, postmarked Los Angeles, California,
1978 July 18. Prolific author Irving Wallace (1916-1990) produced 16 novels
and 17 nonfiction works that sold over 250 million copies worldwide. He also
wrote a dozen screenplays (1953-1959) before turning solely to writing books.
Wallace's first major bestseller was The Chapman Report (1960).
His works also include the novels The Prize (1962) and The
Word (1972), which were made into a feature film and TV miniseries
respectively, and the nonfiction The People's Almanac (first
edition published in 1975) and The Book of Lists (first published
in 1977) both written with his son, David Wallechinsky. Normal mailing folds. Slightly creased.
