Agreement with RKO Radio Pictures to "write, compose, prepare, revise, and to assist other in the same activities, on a screenplay tentatively titled "Jed Harris #1", for a period of no less than 8 weeks, at $1,500 per week.Novelist, short story writer, playwright and screenwriter Irwin Shaw (1913-1984), born Irwin Gilbert Shamforoff, is best known for his novels, The Young Lions (1948), one of the most famous novels about WWII, Rich Man, Poor Man (1970), which was made into a highly successful TV series, and Beggarman, Thief (1977). In the 1930s, Shaw wrote short stories for "The New Yorker" and "Equire", many of which were published in book form in The Sailor of the Bremen (1939) and Welcome to the City (1942). The writer of a number of screenplays, Shaw was nominated for an Academy Award in 1942 for Talk of the Town. RKO was the first movie studio to hire Shaw as a writer (The Big Game, 1936), but his many credits at Internet Movie Database do not include any film made during the time frame, or matching the description of, Jed Harris #1. Either this film was never made, or Shaw ultimately had only a minor role in it. RKO's loss was a gain for competing studios. Staple holes at top left. Lightly creased and worn near edges.
