Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Charley Erikson-/Cordially- Isaac Stern/1986". B/w, 5x7 overall, image 4¼x5¼ (one surface). Russian-born violinist Isaac Stern (1920-2001), who presented some 200 concerts annually during the height of his career, appeared in a number of documentaries and TV specials, including the Emmy Award-winning Carnegie Hall: The Grand Reopening (1987) and Yo-Yo Ma: At Tanglewood (1990). The virtuoso, who made his U.S. debut with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in 1936, first performed at Carnegie Hall in 1943, and he would later serve as President of Carnegie Hall for 40 years. Among Stern's many honors were the Kennedy Center Honor (presented by President Reagan in 1984) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (awarded by President Bush in 1992). Fine condition.
