Autograph Sentiment signed: "Yours truly/Isabella M. Alden - Pansy -/Chapel St. Walnut Hills Cin'ti.", 3x2¼ card. Isabella McDonald Alden (1841-1930) won a $50 prize for her first book, Helen Lester, written when she was 24. She went on to write or edit over 200 books under the pen name of Pansy, mostly novels with a Christian message for young readers. She also wrote a biography of Jesus, The Prince of Peace (1908). Isabella Alden was a popular speaker at Chautauqua Assemblies, influential adult education programs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Fine condition.
