I.M. LEVITT The well-respected astronomer pens his name on this 3½x2 card Signature: “Dr. I.M. Levitt/ Sept 14, 1973”, in blue ink, 3½x2. Israel Monroe Levitt (1908-2004) was an American astronomer and inventor who worked for the Franklin Institute for nearly 40 years, serving as the vice president and director of the Institute's Fels Planetarium. He then worked for the city of Philadelphia for 19 years before retiring and volunteering for the city in his spare time. In addition to working at the planetarium, Levitt invented and built the Mars Space Clock, developed a moon clock, and for two years was instrumental in the developing and running of NASA's spacemobile program. Lightly toned. Pencil notes on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
