IT HAPPENED IN HOLLYWOOD MOVIE CAST: FAY WRAY AND RICHARD
DIX
Vintage sepia publicity photograph of Fay Wray and Richard Dix in a
scene from It Happened in Hollywood.
Photograph signed: "Fay Wray" and "Richard Dix".
Sepia, 10x8 overall, image 9¼x7 (one surface). Movie still captioned in lower
margin. In this 1937 film, Wray and Dix play silent movie stars trying to make
the transition to talking films. RICHARD DIX (1894-1949), the rugged
leading man of many silent films made his debut in 1921. He often played the
strong, silent type in his early films, and was the hero in the modern part of
DeMille's The Ten Commandments (1923) and played an Indian in The
Vanishing American (1925). Richard Dix achieved his greatest success, a
Best Actor Oscar nomination, for Cimarron (1930) which won the
Best Picture Oscar. FAY WRAY, (1907-2004), appeared in films for over sixty
years, from Blind Husbands (1919) to Gideon's Trumpet (1980, TV).
However, she will always be best remembered as the screaming captive of an
enthralled King Kong (1933), atop the Empire State Building. Worn at
corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
