Autograph sentiment signed "Best wishes-/Ivan Lebedeff..." in pencil. 5½x4¼ with rounded right edges. Lithuanian-born Lebedeff (1895-1953) was a czarist military officer who fled Russia after the revolution. He acted in European films before arriving in Hollywood for a starring role in D. W. Griffith's The Sorrows of Satan (1926). He was often cast as a European cad or villain. The year he inscribed this photo, Lebedeff appeared in two silent films: Let 'er Go Gallegher and The Veiled Woman, both released in 1928. He appeared in character roles until shortly before his death, his last appearance coming in The War of the Worlds (1953). Lightly toned, stained, foxed and creased. Torn from album at left edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
