J. PETER GRACE
The industrialist and co-founder of Citizens Against Government Waste signs a booklet of ideas for Congress.
Pamphlet signed: "Good luck/& best regards/Peter Grace" on inside cover, 24p, 5½x8¼. Titled: "Critical Government Waste Issues for the 102nd Congress". Published by Council for Citizens Against Government Waste for the 1991-1992 Fiscal Year. J. Peter Grace, who assumed the presidency of W.R. Grace in 1945 at the age of 32, co-founded Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) with columnist Jack Anderson in 1984. By the time this booklet was published, membership was at 400,000 in the private, non-partisan, nonprofit organization whose mission was to eliminate waste, mismanagement and inefficiency in the federal government. Grace, who was Chairman of W.R. Grace and a life trustee of the University of Notre Dame at his death in 1995 at the age of 82, had been honored with the Laetare Medal, the University's highest honor, in 1967. Among his contributions to the University were Grace Hall, an 11-story men's residence (1969) and the O'Hara-Grace Graduate Residences (1976). Cover lightly creased. Fine condition.
