The industrialist and co-founder of Citizens Against Government Waste
signs a booklet of ideas for Congress.
Pamphlet signed: "Good luck/& best regards/Peter
Grace" on inside cover, 24p, 5½x8¼. Titled:
"Critical Government Waste Issues for the 102nd Congress". Published by Council
for Citizens Against Government Waste for the 1991-1992 Fiscal Year. J. Peter
Grace, who assumed the presidency of W.R. Grace in 1945 at the age of 32,
co-founded Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) with columnist Jack Anderson
in 1984. By the time this booklet was published, membership was at
400,000 in the private, non-partisan, nonprofit organization whose mission was
to eliminate waste, mismanagement and inefficiency in the federal
government. Grace, who was Chairman of W.R. Grace and a life trustee of the
University of Notre Dame at his death in 1995 at the age of 82, had been honored
with the Laetare Medal, the University's highest honor, in 1967. Among his
contributions to the University were Grace Hall, an 11-story men's residence
(1969) and the O'Hara-Grace Graduate Residences (1976). Cover lightly creased.
