Signature: “J. Vaughan Gary”, in black ink, 5x3. Julian Vaughan Gary (1892-1973) was a
congressman from Virginia. Gary attended the University of Richmond, earning both his
B.A. and his LL.B. from the academic institution. Gary served in the U.S. Army during
World War I and after returning from war he became the counsel and executive assistant of
the Virginia tax board (1919-1924). Gary served in the Virginia State House of Delegates
(1926-1933) before being elected as a Democrat to the 79th Congress to fill a vacancy. He
then was reelected to next nine Congresses and served from 1947 to 1965.Gary then
returned to practicing law. Top edge lightly worn. Toned. Mounting remnants on verso, with
light show-through on front. Otherwise, fine condition.
