JACK ALBERTSON
Youthful publicity photograph signed "With my best wishes"
Photograph signed: "With my very best wishes/Jack Albertson/'Red Mill' 'Make Mine Manhattan'". B/w, 8x10. Both The Red Mill and Make Mine Manhattan were plays in which Albertson appeared. Stage, screen and television actor Jack Albertson (1907-1981), who began his career in vaudeville and burlesque, is one of only three actors to have won a Tony Award, an Academy Award and an Emmy Award. The Tony came first, for The Subject Was Roses (1964), a role he reprised in the 1968 film version, for which he won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. He appeared as Grandpa Joe in the 1971 hit film Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Albertson earned two Emmys: the first for his role as Ed Brown on the popular sitcom, Chico and the Man (1974-1978); the other for a guest appearance on the variety show, Cher (1975). Albertson was a prolific actor, appearing in a long list of feature films, made-for-TV movies and as both a regular and a guest star on TV shows from 1954-1980. Lightly smeared at "very". Surface creases seen head on. Otherwise, fine condition.
