JACK BENNY
7x9 head and shoulders image of Benny, inscribed to collector Harry Wilkinson
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Harry Wilkinson/Sincere good wishes/Jack Benny". Sepia, 7x9¼. comedian Jack Benny (1894-1974) hosted a popular radio show from 1933, moving The Jack Benny Program smoothly to TV (1950-1965). His comic image as a tone-deaf, penny-pinching bachelor contradicted the real Benny, a philanthropist, devoted husband and competent violinist. He appeared in over 25 movies, the most critically acclaimed being To Be or Not To Be (1942). Harry Wilkinson, a noted collector, maintained the Hollywood Museum of Memories in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Signature beaded but legible. Pin size hole at bottom left corner. Mounting residue and ink stamps on verso. Lightly toned. Unknown minor stains at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
