JACK BENNYThis check signed by the legendary comedian is paired with a black and white photograph of him, and matted in the Gallery of History style to a size of 16½x12. Check signed: "Jack Benny", 8x3 check with a 4½x9½ black and white photograph of the comedian trying his hand at the violin. Beverly Hills, California. Dated May 12, 1965. Drawn on his Bank of America account, payable to Stewart Croxton, Inc., for $10.40. Vaudeville comedian Jack Benny (1894-1974), born Benjamin Kubelsky, hosted a popular radio show from 1933, moving The Jack Benny Program smoothly to TV (1950-1965). His comic image as a tone-deaf, penny-pinching bachelor contradicted the real Benny, a philanthropist, devoted husband and competent violinist. He appeared in over 25 movies, the most critically acclaimed being To Be Or Not To Be (1942). Matted to 16½x12 in the Gallery of History Style. Light show through from bank stamps on verso (not at signature). Regular cancellation holes. Otherwise, fine condition.
