Typed Letter signed: "Jack Buchanan", 1p, 7x10¾. Paramount
Famous Lasky Corp., Hollywood, California, 1930 April 22. To Billy Watters,
New York, N.Y. In full: "Please forgive me for having failed to answer
your letter at an earlier date. I have pleasure in enclosing autograph as
requested. With every good wish." Scottish-born Buchanan (1890-1957) debuted
on the London stage in 1912. His film appearances included Monte Carlo
(1930), Brewster's Millions (1935) and The Band Wagon (1953). He
held his own when paired with other debonair screen personalities like Maurice
Chevalier and Fred Astaire. Lightly creased, with a series of ¼" vertical tears
at top edge.
