directed by Oscar-nominated director and cinematographer Jack Cardiff
Document signed "J Cardiff". 1 page, 4¾x7.This document,

United Kingdom, was a child actor in early British cinema, but made his greatest
impact once he grew out of his cuteness. He got his start in cinematography as a

1935. Cardiff was the camera operator on the first British Technicolor film,
Wings of the Morning (1937) and gave impressive cinematography
work in Black Narcissus (1948) and The Red Shoes
(1949). In all, Cardiff has over 70 cinematography credits, with his last on the
2007 British mini-series The Other Side of the Screen. He also directed
15 films and TV shows between 1953 and 1974. His directing credits include
Scent of Mystery (1960), the first, and as it turned out last, movie
filmed in glorious "Smell-O-Vision". But they also include solid films like
Sons and Lovers (1960), The Lion (1963) and Dark of the Sun
(1968). Cardiff earned three Oscar nomations in cinematography for War
and Peace (1956), Fanny (1961) and Black Narcissus and once
Oscar nod in directing for Sons and Lovers. He received an honoray
Oscar for his contributions in 2000 and was made an Officer of the Order of the
British Empire in 2001. Lightly toned and creased. Signature is lightly haloed
but legible. Top left corner is missing. Light tears, staple holes and one file
