Autograph Letter signed: "Jack & Jody Carney", 5¾x4 picture
postcard, postmarked Florence, Italy, August 13, 1981. Picture on front is of
Michaelangelo's famous sculpture, David, at the Galleria Accademia. Addressed in
Carney's hand to actress/comedienne Phyllis Diller. In full: "Jody
& I found the most wonderful gift for you in Florence. But we can't get it
unwrapped. Love. (Jewish he isn't.)" Jack Carney (1932-1984) was a
long-time radio personality, best known from his long service at KMOX in St.
Louis and his sometimes funny, sometimes serious, commentaries. He
was also known for the alter ego he created, "Pookie Snackenburg." Carney was
enshrined in the Radio Hall of Fame in 2001. One-quarter-inch scratch in
upper right corner of photo side. Otherwise, fine condition.
