Contract Signed: "Jack Greene" in blue ink, 1p, 8½x11. Goodlettsville, Tennessee, October
20, 1967. Contract for country-western singer Jack Greene and four musicians to appear at
"Frontier Town, San Antonio, Texas" on "Sunday, November 12, 1967, 8:00 to 12:00". The

was signed was referred to as "The Jack Greene Year with the CMA". Greene (1930-2013)
was a country musician who won many awards over the course of his decades-long career. His
debut album There Goes My Everything (1966) rocketed to #1 on the U.S. Country Top
100 chart and reached the U.S. Billboard 100 as well. Of the sixteen albums he released
from 1966 to 1980, only two failed to break into the U.S. Country Top 100 chart. In
1967, he earned four awards that put him in the upper echelon of country singers: he
became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and he won Single of the Year, Male Vocalist
of the Year, and Album of the Year from the Country Music Association. The song “There
Goes My Everything” was #1 on the Billboard charts for seven weeks and the album of the
same title topped the charts for four weeks. Greene, who had started his career as a drummer
with the Peachtree Cowboys and Ernest Tubb's Texas Troubador Band, followed his 1967
success with a number of other hits, including "All The Time", "What Locks the Door?",
"You Are My Treasure", "Lord, Is That Me?", and "Statue of a Fool" (all number one hits) as
well as two #1 albums. Later in his career, Greene, who was called "the Garth Brooks of
his era", sang and recorded with his wife, Jeannie Seeley. At age 80, Greene, who still
performed at the Grand Ole Opry, released a new compilation album titled Precious
Memories, Treasured Friends. The album consists of duets her performed with Seeley, George
Jones, Merle Haggard, Little Jimmy Dickens, and many other country music greats. He did
not retire from performing until 2011, just two years before his death. Lightly creased at upper
margin, which has staple holes and rust stains at left corner. ½-inch separation at lower
horizontal fold. Otherwise, fine condition.
