JACK HALEY, SR.
Promotional photo for Redheads on Parade, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Jack Haley". B/w, 8x10. Promotional photo for Redheads on Parade (1935), captioned in lower margin. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: August 17, 1939. Jack Haley (1897-1979), fondly remembered as The Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz, was originally a vaudeville star. Haley also starred in such films as Pigskin Parade (1936) and the 1938 films Alexander's Ragtime Band and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. After last starring role in Vacation in Reno (1946), Haley did not make another feature film until 1970s Norwood, although he was frequently seen as a guest star on television series. His son, Jack Haley, Jr. (1933-2001) was a Hollywood producer. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Scattered light surface marks and creases. Slightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
