Comedy actor Jack Hulbert (1892-1978) was educated at Cambridge University, and first appearing in shows and revues with Cambridge's amateur theatrical club (Cambridge Footlights). Popular in the comedy troupe, Hulbert soon found success in film, making his debut in 1930 with Elstree Calling. He would go on to appear in several more movies through the 1930s, being voted the most popular British star in 1934, and third most popular in 1936. As the 1930s came to an end, Hulbert's popularity began to fade, and he and his wife returned to entertaining primarily on stages, which he continued to do late into his life. He still made rare television and film appearances, his last one being in 1974's The Cherry Picker. Corners slightly worn. Light surface creases. Bottom left corner clipped. Otherwise, fine condition.
