& inscription". Obtained directly from Moynihan's estate!

[Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan]. In full: "Just a note to thank you for your very thoughtful
book & inscription. I'm really flattered to get a copy & look forward to reading it during the
Democratic Convention. It'll help give me a better perspective. All my best, Jack". Jack French
Kemp (1935-2009) was an American Republican politician, collegiate and professional
football player. He served as Housing Secretary in the administration of President George
H. W. Bush from 1989 to 1993, having previously served nine terms as a congressman for
Western New York's 31st congressional district from 1971 to 1989. He was the
Republican Party's nominee for Vice President in the 1996 election, where he was running
mate of presidential nominee Bob Dole; Kemp had previously contended for the presidential
nomination in the 1988 Republican primaries. Jack Kemp was posthumously awarded the
Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009 by President Barack Obama. Daniel Patrick
Moynihan
(1927-2003) served four terms in the U.S. Senate (1977-2001) as a Democrat representing
New York. A prolific author, Moynihan held positions in the administrations of four
Presidents: Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford. Estate inventory numbers stamped in left and
top margins. Paper has separated at mid horizontal crease and been reconnected with clear tape.
Bottom of two words of text (I'm really") were lost in the separation, but signature is
unaffected and text is fully legible. Ink stamp on verso shows through faintly, touching two
words of text. Otherwise, fine condition.
