B/w 2½x5 affixed to 8x10 sheet (Two surfaces) Jack LaLanne (1914-2011) was an American fitness, exercise and nutritional expert, lecturer and motivational speaker referred to as "the godfather of fitness". He received his Doctor of Chiropractics from the Oakland Chiropractic College and opened his own health spa in 1936 -by the 1980s more than 200 carried his name. A believer in weight training he designed the first leg extension machines that are now standard in fitness training. The Jack LaLanne Show (1951-1985) began as a local program and expanded nationwide-becoming the longest running exercise program in history. Over the years, he has developed numerous pieces of exercise equipment, published multiple books and videos on fitness and nutrition and marketed the Power Juicer. As a renowned bodybuilder, he has also won numerous awards such as: The Horatio Alger Award from the Association of Distinguished Americans, Dwight D. Eisenhower Fitness Award, Academy of Body Building and Fitness Award, State of California Physical Fitness Lifetime Achievement Award, and was inducted in to the California Hall of Fame (2008). At age 94, LaLanne worked out every morning for two hours. Maria Fletcher was born on June 23, 1942. She became Miss America in 1962. Prior to winning she worked as a Radio City Music Hall Rockette. In the late 1960's she worked co-hosting The Noon Show on WSM, a television station in Nashville, Tennessee.Left side ragged. Lightly toned along right edge. Small ink note on bottom left verso.
