Chicago White Sox trading card signed by the pitcher
Trading/sports card signed: "Jack McDowell", in blue felt tip, 2½x3½. Jack McDowell (b. 1966) pitched his first eight Major League seasons for the Chicago White Sox. In a four-year stretch (1990-1993), he won 73 games and was named to three All-Star teams, capping it off with a League-leading 22-win season and Cy Young Award in 1993. Traded to the Yankees in 1995, McDowell had a respectable 15-10 record, but didn't meet the expectations of Yankee fans. On July 18, he was hammered by the White Sox at Yankee Stadium and driven from the mound in the fifth inning. Booed lustily, he responded by flipping the bird to the fans. McDowell, a talented rock musician always known as a rebel, spent two more seasons in the Majors (with Cleveland and Anaheim), but was hampered by injuries and never regained peak form. Corners and edges slightly worn. Fine condition.
