Photograph inscribed and signed: "To David Reid/-77/Jack Mulhall". B/w 7½ x 10¼. Jack
Mulhall (1887-1979), a vaudeville singer in his youth, appeared in his first silent film in 1913 and
was a favorite leading man of the 1920s, often paired with Dorthy Mackaill. In all he made over
430 films. Mostly consigned to secondary roles by the mid-1930s, a devolution he never
understood, Mulhall made his last feature film, Atomic Submarine, in 1959, but he remained
active on the board of the Screen Actors Guild. He appeared in several TV series, including
Dragnet and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Mulhall was also a model for commercial products,
including Arrow Shirts and - as shown here - Kreemex pancake mix. Toned and soiled.
Creased. Writing indentions near upper right corner. Worn at corners. Ink notes (unknown
hand) on verso. Good condition.
