Handwritten, signed letter from the American actor, thanking a fan
for their letter but saying he will be unable to draw and doodles as he is "a
lousy artist". Extremely rare!
Autograph letter signed: "Jack Mullaney", in black ink, 4½x6¼.
Encapsulated. August 26, 1980. In full: "Dear Bob - Thanks so much for
your letter. Sorry it's taken so long to answer. I'm a lousy artist as one can
see from my penmanship. It's true - I don't doodle. Forgive me. Have a nice year
- and again - thank you for your letter. My best to you and you and your
students". Jack Mullaney (1929-1982) was an American actor of film
and television, often cast in a lovable or goofy role. He debuted in 1954 on
Goodyear Playhouse, followed by roles in Robert Montgomery
Presents (1955) and Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1956). He had
several recurring roles, including on on The Ann Sothern Show and
Ensign O'Toole. His last acting credit was in the 1980 film
Little Miss Maker, dying two years later after a stroke. Fine
condition.
