Magazine Photograph signed: "Jack Payne". Sepia, 8½x12. Caption is headed, "Jack Payne, Idol of Radio Enthusiasts, is a Film Star." Announced it his appearance in the film Say It With Music. Jack Payne(1899-1969) formed his first dance bands to entertain fellow British aviators during World War I. From 1925, his band performances at London's Hotel Cecil were carried by the BBC. Payne made two films, Say It With Music (1932) and Sunshine Ahead (1936). For many years, beginning in 1928, he was Director of Dance Music for the British Broadcasting Company. He also ran a theatrical agency and made occasional appearance on British TV. Worn and toned. Multiple fold creases. Corners worn and creased. Signature in poor contrast but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
