envelope.
Autograph Envelope unsigned, 8½x4½. Postmarked Dallas, Texas,
December 18, 1991. Kilby's address in Dallas is printed on reverse flap. He
has handwritten the address: "Mr William W Stanhope/7500 Dellwood
Lane/Albuquerque, N M 87110".Kilby invented the monolithic
integrated circuit (the microchip), receiving the 2000 Nobel Prize in
Physics for the role he played in this achievement which laid the foundation
for modern microelectronics. This breakthrough made possible the
sophisticated, high-speed computers of the information age. He has patented
over 60 inventions. Envelope, neatly opened at top, is slightly creased.
