The Nobel Prize winner signs a Christmas card in black ink.
Christmas Card signed: "Jack Kilby", 4¼x6¼ when closed, signed
inside under the printed message: "Best Wishes/for the/Christmas Season". In
1958, Kilby went to work at Texas Instruments. Within a year, the electrical
engineer had invented a monolithic integrated circuit that he called a
"microchip" (patent #3,138,743). He also developed the first pocket
calculator, "Pocketronic". One of over 60 inventions Kilby patented, the
microchip made high-speed computing and communication systems possible. Kilby
was awarded the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his part in the invention
of the integrated circuit". Left edge worn and frayed. Otherwise, fine
condition.
