JACK S. KILBY
Jack S. Kilby draws his invention, a microchip in black ink.
Original Art signed: "Jack S Kilby", 10½x6¾ card stock. In 1958, Kilby went to work at Texas Instruments. Within a year, the electrical engineer had invented a monolithic integrated circuit that he called a "microchip", which he has drawn on this card. He also developed the first pocket calculator, "Pocketronic". The microchip, one of more than 60 inventions patented by Kilby, made high-speed computing and communication systems possible and is widely used today in electronic systems. Kilby was awarded the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his part in the invention of the integrated circuit". Fine condition.
